'Tis so sweet...

I am a 2-year short-term missionary with Covenant World Mission, living in Oaxaca Mexico. I have a great team of supporters and am serving a wonderful God. Hopefully this blog help me share news and adventures with you folks a little more frequently. Enjoy!

Who is Laura?

For those of you who don’t know me too well - and, yes, even for those of you who do know me too well :-), here’s some light reading of random things about me:

  • I am a mexi-pol texan. My dad’s parents are Mexican and Polish and my mom’s parents are, well… Texan. Tell you what, there are not many of us mexi-pol texans around, and I’m very proud to be one. :-)
  • I like shoveling snow. I do not like cleaning showers (I’d prefer to clean a toilet in place of a shower). I have been in four states at the same time. I have never eaten a grasshopper, but I think I will get that chance, since they are apparently a special treat in Oaxaca :-)
  • I have been on missions to Honduras 4 times. Through my experiences there, I have been blessed with many amazing opportunities. Can you guess which one of the following is something I never really did in Honduras?
    a. help deliver a baby
    b. jump off a 20-foot cliff into a river
    c. make cinnamon rolls from scratch
    d. ride in a cattle truck on a highway
    e. build part of a road
    f. cut a path with a machete
    g. teach in a one-room school building
    h. help construct a pond
Hmmm… which one could it be? Have your guess? Well, actually, all of them are true (tricky, eh?). I have also had the wonderful opportunity during my times there to be still and know that God is God and experience the passionate worship of Honduran churches.

Well, I hope you enjoyed that. My future blogs will probably be more informative, but I thought I’d toss in a fun one for kicks :-)
