Christmas in Oaxaca

My family is here to visit, yeah! We have been keeping ourselves busy - enjoying Oaxaca in its Christmas season of celebrations. Below are the many things we've been able to do/see in the past 5 days.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The zocalo (town square) filled with beautiful poinsettias.

Dining at a restaurant on the zocalo.

A tree of poinsettias beside the big church on the north side of the zocalo.

The Guelaguetza (gay-la-gets-a) is a celebration of the dance traditions of the different regions of Oaxaca. We had the delight of seeing the children's guelaguetza parade go by.

December 23 is Noche de Rabanos (Night of the Radishes). Oaxacans show off their creativity carving images out of radishes. Here's Mary enjoying the creations as we walk around on the platform.

Who would've thought radishes could be so cool?
