Camp!

Last week was a special camp for kids who have been abused or neglected. Having worked at camp 3 summers, I have always been around during this week, but this is the first time I have gotten to be a part of this amazing staff who have such a passion for these children.

I was the official videographer :-). What that means is that I got to walk around camp all day carrying my camera :-D. It was fun to see how camp looked through the viewfinder, being able to focus on individuals and precious moments. As I put together my video at the end of the week, I was really thankful for how many shots I ended up with that featured on the beautiful faces of each child there. Several people complimented me on my video (and I appreciated that), but I knew it was God who had created those cute faces and the staff who put smiles on their faces by loving them so much. I just took a picture ;-).

Quick story - on Monday night, I was headed over to the lodge that I had dorm duty in. It was about 9:00 and I had a long night ahead of me. I had several things on my mind, but as I glanced up from my walk, I was struck by the incredible sight directly in front of me. Dusk had just about given way to night and the pale sky above the shadowed mountain range was filled with dark clouds. The sight just stopped me in my tracks. It made me feel so small and reminded me how huge and awesome the world that God created is.

I travel miles to get to work each day, I can get to New York or California in a few hours, and given the right money and influence, I could potentially make it all the way around the world within a day or two. But, no matter how small the world seems to be with all our ‘knowledge’ and technology, I don’t think it could ever change the awe of God that I felt in that moment.
